Black toe nail fungus has become is very common, especially for people who tend to walk around barefooted in public places. The same fungus can spread to your nails. A very early indicator of what might be toenail fungus is a small white or yellow dot under the nail bed. If you let your toenails stay wet for an extended period — for instance, wearing the same pair of wet or sweaty socks all day — you may be more likely to develop toenail fungus.

Trim your toenails - straight across - to keep them shorter than the end of your toe. Topical treatments are simple remedies. Certain exceptions exist but they are commonly unnoticed by nail fungus sufferers. It is more common in toenails. Thickening of the nails is often the case with nail fungus.

Toenail fungus becomes more difficult to treat as it moves toward the cuticle. Keep your toenails well groomed and short so that the fungal fightnailfungus environment is little present. Fungus thrives when your feet are cooped up inside tight, hot shoes and socks. An ingrown toenail occurs when a corner of the nail grows into the flesh of the toe, causing redness and swelling, followed by pain and often infection.

Distal lateral subungual onychomycosis (DLSO) is the most common form of fungal nail infection. At Apple Podiatry Group, you can even get KeryFlex® nail-restoration treatments. Medical strength nail gels and polishes are available to aid the nail in its rebuilding process and help prevent toenail fungus from recurring.

Toenail fungus is highly contagious and, if you have a fungal infection on your foot, the fungus can spread to one or more of your nails. If you notice your nails becoming thick, dry and eventually starting to crumble you may have a toenail fungal infection.

In certain cases, the big toenail will have to be removed, in cases, for example, of mould-related onychomycosis or failure of a suitably led treatment. One of the ways candida shows up is through the skin where it can cause noticeable reactions or infections.
